Discover Emilia-Romagna through its most beautiful golf courses: Bologna, Modena, Terre di Canossa, Ducato and Salsomaggiore Terme. A region where golf blends with art, gastronomy and the dolce vita. We tell you all about Emilia Romagna, from golf courses to accommodation and tourist attractions!
There's an ancient and precious thread that links the entire Emilia-Romagna region, from sunny Rimini, capital of seaside tourism, to the historically rich ‘Piacenza’ region: the Via Emilia. A red thread set with many unique ‘pearls’: 10 cities of art, unspoilt natural landscapes, the famous Motor Valley, renowned gastronomy, spas, sporting activities and excellent craftsmanship.
A journey along the Via Emilia between golf, art, culture, gastronomy, passion for cars and well-being! This generous region has everything to seduce you... and make you want to come back again and again.
The art cities of Emilia-Romagna are veritable treasures of culture and knowledge, showcases of excellence of Italy's ‘Great Beauty’. Roman Rimini, Ravenna and Faenza with their world-famous mosaics and ceramics, Cesena with the Malatestiana library, Bologna with its 47km of arcades and its thousand-year-old university, and even Parma, Modena, Ferrara with the splendour of their ancient seigniories, and Piacenza with its palaces and ancient courtyards.
Cities of art, but also cities of music, which have given birth to names that have gone down in the world's musical firmament, from Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini to Luciano Pavarotti. And let's not forget prose and opera, protagonists of the 100 theatres in Emilia-Romagna (one of the highest densities in Europe), as well as cinema, painting and literature.
Via Emilia has been the birthplace of film masters such as Federico Fellini, Michelangelo Antonioni, Pierpaolo Pasolini and Bernardo Bertolucci, painters such as Guercino, Carracci, Guido Reni and Giorgio Morandi, poets and writers of the calibre of Ludovico Ariosto, Giovanni Pascoli , Cesare Zavattini, Leo Longanesi, Tonino Guerra and many others.
Emilia-Romagna is also a land of wellbeing and sport. Along the Via Emilia there are 23 thermal spas in 19 locations, offering cutting-edge treatments and relaxation and wellbeing, thanks to facilities with thermal pools, large parks and springs with beneficial properties.
Sport reigns supreme in the Apennines between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany: in winter, over 300 km of slopes, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing; in summer, trails for hiking, mountain biking, numerous cycle paths and horse riding.
A few more kilometres of the Via Emilia to the south, and you're on the Riviera Romagnola, with 110 km of golden beach, 15 theme parks (the highest concentration in Italy), a relaxing Wellness Valley with a magical hinterland and plenty of places for family holidays.
From Piacenza to Rimini, the region is full of villages steeped in history and culture, and guardians of traditions.
From the hinterland to the coast, from Bobbio, Castell'Arquato and Vigoleno in the Piacenza region to the villages of the Parma region, between the Apennines and the lands of Verdi. An area that boasts a variety of incredibly beautiful landscapes and a wealth of castles and fortresses that bear witness to the history of the villages of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza. The village of Gualtieri - the only certified village in Reggio Emilia - is the small capital of Emilia, set against the main dam of the River Po, and is widely recognised as a masterpiece of Renaissance town planning.
Scattered at the foot of the Apennines, among some of the most panoramic sites in the region, the villages of the Modena area bear witness to an eventful history and great food and wine traditions. Dozza, for example, is a veritable open-air museum: art becomes the urban landscape, adorning the walls of houses, streets and squares. But the true cradle of regional villages is Romagna, guardian of forty-three charming villages perched in the hills inland from Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini, dotted with medieval towers and fortresses immersed in a lush territory of green hills and breathtaking panoramas overlooking the sea.
Emilia-Romagna has always been the land of engines, a Motor Valley unrivalled in the world when it comes to history and brands. Two and four-wheeled legends such as Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Pagani, Ducati and Dallara were born along the Via Emilia, true entrepreneurial excellence from a region that has always been at the forefront of technology.
Every year, the circuits and racetracks of Emilia Romagna's Motor Valley host historic re-enactments, car and motorbike market exhibitions, and the Moto GP and Superbike Championship stages. Thanks to the passion of many private individuals, unique collections of cars and motorbikes can be admired between Rimini and Modena.
The typical gastronomy and oenology of Emilia-Romagna is a tasty guide to a holiday along the Via Emilia. An itinerary to discover the regional basket of 44 DOP and IGP products, 50 DOC and DOCG wines, the countless typical dishes offered by Michelin-starred restaurants, inns and street food stands: from piadinaromagnole to Piacenza's ‘pisarei and fasò’ (small gnocchi made of flour and breadcrumbs served with a bean sauce), from tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce to Modena's fried gnocco.
