Democratize golf and play all year round: the bet of Mont Fairway

At the same time training place of new generation and true space of conviviality, Mont Fairway shakes up the codes of traditional golf. Thomas Royer, pro teacher, and Rémy Caillard, passionate manager, talk to us about it...

Their ambition? Create a hybrid place where one can train with rigor thanks to the most advanced technologies, while finding the club spirit and friendliness of the "19th hole". Between technical progress, competitions, activities for members and shared moments around a drink, Mont Fairway, Golf Spot of the Golfy Network, is much more than just an indoor golf: a real QG for golfers in the region, whether they are beginners, confirmed or competitors.

  • What is the primary purpose of your indoor center: leisure, performance or both? How does the bar/dining area change the golf experience? Is it a training place... or also a living place?

    We wanted to combine the whole set, with solutions for players wanting to perform and train, but also a place that is a living place, where one wants to stay. We want it to be the friends' HQ. We can train seriously, compete, come with the children, play games, come with friends for more fun games! A club life with members seems important for us, we set up many activities for our 80 members for example.
    A golfindoor without bar and restaurant was not conceivable for us, golf is everything, it’s not just I make my 18 holes and leave, they are meetings, moments of sharing on and off the course, and it’s the same indoors. The 19th hole as they say!
  • Who can come? What type of audience is your establishment aimed at (beginners, confirmed, competitors)?
    The basic idea is to democratize golf and to put continuity in the game of golfers from the region who are stopped during the winter. Whether you are a beginner, an advanced one or a competitor, everyone can find their way there. Golf workshops and initiations are set up to attract new golfers, for example. The bar and restaurant allow people to discover golf through the golfindoor, whereas they would never have set foot in a traditional golf course.
  • How does an indoor golf course complete the offer of a traditional golf course?
    In golfindoor, at the training level, we no longer just type, especially in practices thanks to data or even the video that the trackman brings. The length of the practice is also unlimited, which allows for long batters to drive, which is impossible in the outdoor practices of the region, which are often too short. The training modes are varied, notably with calibration, or even the performance center which allows to evaluate oneself on given distances that vary with each shot.
    The variety of courses, from the compact to the lap course, is also a good training challenge!
  • Why is indoor particularly relevant during the resumption of the season?

    It allows in a region like ours to maintain or perfect one’s swing during the 7 winter months (October to April) where courses are often impassable. The technical work must be done before the season and not in the spring to be ready as soon as the courses open. After that, even during the summer season, having real feedback with data is essential to continue moving in the right direction.

  • Is it simply a weather alternative... or a real training tool?

    A real training tool without hesitation! If professional players use it, it’s good that the analysis done thanks to trackmans is essential. Sensations can deceive but not numbers. All the compartments of the game can be tackled without problems with specific data for each one.
    The training is more constructive and guided indoors.
  • If you had to convince a traditional golfer to try indoor, what would you say?
    Indoor will allow you to:
    - train all year round with the most powerful radar in the world
    - having accurate data to progress faster
    - gain time: 1h per player for 18 holes, effective training in 1 hour
    - do quality technical work in a calm and focused environment
    - have the possibility to play mythical courses (Pebble beach, Saint andrew...)
    - appreciate a friendly and modern format: possibility to train, play seriously but also to have good times in parties or more fun challenge with a drink, some tapas and friends!
    - introduce golf to your beginner friends in a cool place that reassures and puts less pressure than outdoor courses.

  • Present us your teaching program.

    There are offers and rates for beginners: golf aperitif, white cheese/Sunday golf and reduced rates for discovery hours. (Between 20 and 25 euros per person)
    For those who want to commit, there are half-hour rates, hourly rates, or 6-hour packs for example. (Member rate 50 euros, external 70 euros)
    Each course is accompanied by a video analysis.
    An indoor package combined with the 18-hour outdoor class is also possible.
    Trips abroad are also offered, in Italy or even in Morocco for example.
