Maxime Granger explains to us, through his managerial and educational perspective, why the 9-hole course is perfectly suited to today’s golf: less time-consuming, more accessible, but just as strategic as an 18-hole course.
Introduce yourself and present your golf.
I am Maxime Granger, co-director with Anne Sophie Borchard and teacher at the Golf de la Bosse.
Located in the heart of Loir-et-Cher, our 9 holes is a technical course, demanding and recognized for the quality of its maintenance.
The Golf de la Bosse is a human-sized course, friendly, but which requires reflection and strategy. Here, we don’t just come to hit balls: we come to play golf.
- Why do you need to play on a 9-hole? What are the advantages?
The 9 holes perfectly match today’s golf.
One can play in 2 hours, train efficiently, progress quickly and come back often.
It’s less time-consuming, more accessible, but just as strategic as an 18-hole.
A good 9 holes requires scoring. It requires precision, management, and reflection. It is an excellent school of play.
- What makes your 9 holes special?
Our great particularity are our greens of 700 to 900 m 2, each equipped with two flags.
This allows for completely varying angles of attack, offering different configurations and transforming the gaming experience even by replaying the same holes
One can almost play two different courses on the same track.
Another strong signature: our 'Amen Corner', holes 5, 6 and 7.
That’s where everything is decided. Three strategic holes where management takes precedence over power. The parties often switch at this point.
- What advice would you give to a golfer who is discovering your course for the first time?
I would tell him: be strategic, especially on holes 5, 6 and 7.
These are the key holes of the course.
You have to accept to play placed, choose the right zones and not attack the flags at all costs.
The Golf de la Bosse rewards precision and sanctions overconfidence.
The little game is decisive there.
- Which hole surprises the players the most and why?
Many players are surprised by our 'Amen Corner'.
These three holes (5, 6, 7) seem affordable, but they require a real strategic reading.
A bad decision can be very expensive, and conversely, smart management makes the difference.
It’s a decisive passage in the game.
- Present us your teaching department: professional, services, internships...
Teaching is at the heart of the Golf de la Bosse project, and I personally assure it.
We propose:
Personalized individual courses
Group lessons
Golf school
Adult internships
Internships abroad
Our winter classes have become a real appointment: from the end of September to mid-March, we welcome about 130 people per week.
Our golf school trains young competitors, some of whom have already reached the French championship.
We have also developed the Swing Pass, a complete package for beginners, which today constitutes a strong strategic axis of the club’s development.
The objective is clear: to make golf accessible, structured and scalable from the first swings.
