Royal Golf La Bagnaia: a prestigious setting in Tuscany

If the term “royal” is used in the Anglo-Saxon world only for golf clubs which have received this prestigious distinction from the monarchy, the epithet attached to that of La Bagnaia is anything but usurped. Located in the heart of Tuscany, 15 kilometres south of Siena and 90 kilometres south of Florence, this club founded in 2011 brings together everything you would expect from a golf course with this title, and everything you could expect from one of the most beautiful regions of Italy.

Bagnaia Golf Resort: stay in a restored medieval hamlet

Leaving the national road 223 that connects Siena to Grosseto, a few minutes drive in the countryside lead to a hill overlooking the surroundings, on which stands the club-house, fruit of the renovation of an old brick factory in the purest local style of ochre stones. Below, at the bottom of the valley, nestles the Bagnaia Golf Resort, a vast and charming hotel complex with 72 rooms and suites set in an old medieval hamlet subtly restored. Between the two stretches the course, a jewel created by the renowned American architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., who unfolds his manicured fairways on the natural undulations of the terrain. Here and there, alleys lined with Mediterranean cypresses give the place its elegant look and so characteristic of Tuscany.

Royal Golf La Bagnaia: voted best course in Italy in 2023

With its 6101 meters of white markers, the main difficulty of the course is its intrinsic length, to which are added the links sometimes quite long between a green and the next start, and the incessant rolling of the terrain. But the serenity that emanates from the surrounding landscape and the quality of the maintenance of the terrain quickly forget the potential fatigue, and contribute largely to make a part an authentic and unforgettable experience. It is not without reason that the Royal Golf La Bagnaia was elected best course in Italy at the World Golf Awards of 2023, and best club for tourism golfism at the Italian Golf Awards this year!
