Welcome to South-West France, where fairways stretch between pine forests, bastides and rolling hills, and where the table is as generous as the local accent. Discover six golf courses… and just as many opportunities to savour authentic, heartfelt regional cuisine.

Covering southern Gironde, Lot-et-Garonne, Landes and Gers, the Landes–Gascogne region offers a true playground for golf enthusiasts and gourmets alike. Between two drives you’ll taste foie gras, duck breast, honest wines from the terroir and traditional sweet treats. Staying here means finding the perfect blend of sport, relaxation and sensory indulgence.

Characterful Courses at the heartbeat of the South-West

Each course here has its own identity, history and atmosphere. No standardized layouts, but playing grounds rooted in their land, often edged by forests, vineyards or rolling hills

South of Bordeaux, the Golf and Ecolodges du Sauternais welcome you in the heart of the vineyards, between pine forests and noble soils. This peaceful, wooded 18-hole course rolls out its fairways over gently undulating terrain, with a few well-placed water hazards to spice up your game. After your round, you can unpack at the Ecolodges du Sauternais, a charming and comfortable address to extend your golf & terroir experience. Just a few kilometres away, don’t miss a stop at Château d’Agassac, a ‘Hot Spot by Golfy’, for an oenological visit to a Haut-Médoc château.

Some 30 kilometres east of Golf du Sauternais, the 9-hole Golf de Marmande is a delightful surprise. Wooded, flat and accessible yet cleverly designed around a 2-hectare lake, it’s perfect for a quick round or a friendly introduction, while more experienced players will appreciate its technical character.

Further south, in Barbaste, the Albret Golf Experience offers a sporty and panoramic round in a truly Gascon atmosphere. Here, the greens overlook the rolling hills of the Lot-et-Garonne, the fairways wind through orchards, and the valley views are superb. This is a technical yet pleasant course, ideal for golfers seeking variety. Right next door, the Terra Gasconha Hotel combines contemporary charm with regional inspiration — a peaceful, eco-minded address perfect for discovering the local gastronomy.

Set in the heart of nature, in a discreet and intimate atmosphere, the Golf du Château d’Allot at Boé, on the outskirts of Agen, is a simple yet charming course. Nestled in a tree-lined park around a château, this 18-hole layout is perfect for players looking for calm and greenery. The first 13 holes are links-style, lined with numerous water hazards, before the final five holes run alongside the Garonne and return toward the château and its centuries-old cedars. A stay at the Serra Boutique Hotel**** adds an elegant touch to your golfing getaway.

The Golf de Mont-de-Marsan immerses you in the heart of the Landes on an 18-hole layout perfectly integrated into the pine forest. Technically engaging, with its doglegs and greens protected by tall pines, this course is also renowned for the year-round quality of its fairways. The Hotel Le Renaissance*** — a resolutely contemporary hideaway just steps from Mont-de-Marsan’s city centre — offers calm and serenity.

Finally, on the road between Mont-de-Marsan and the Basque Country, a stop is a must: a 9-hole course of striking charm and unsuspected technicality. Located in the village of Bahus-Soubiran, ‘Les Greens d’Eugénie’ is one of those unexpected addresses that quickly become favourites. Designed in 1996 by Jean Larrouy, it is nestled in the wooded countryside of the Landes and crossed by the peaceful Bahus stream. Its natural setting of forests, vines and rolling terrain makes for a course that is both technical and enjoyable for players of all levels.

A land of golf… and gastronomy

In Landes–Gascogne, every golfing stop is also a promise of delights. Here, gastronomy is serious business, rooted in tradition and driven by the generosity of the land.

You can’t miss duck, a true regional emblem.Grilled magret, homemade foie gras, slowly simmered confit, rillettes or gizzards in salad – it features on every table, from the simplest to the most refined. In winter as in summer, it is part of Gascon culinary DNA.

Another typical dish is poule au pot, slowly cooked with garden vegetables, best savoured in a family-run inn. Sand-grown asparagus, porcini mushrooms from the Landes forests, heather honey, and farm cheeses from sheep or goats complete this palette of flavours. And for a sweet finish: the Landes tourtière, crispy and perfumed with Armagnac, or its cousin, the Gascon croustade, often filled with apples.

On the wine side, Floc de Gascogne and Armagnac reign as aperitifs or digestifs. Regional wines are equally worth discovering: Côtes de Gascogne whites, Tursan, Madiran, Buzet, not to mention the hidden gems of the Marmandais. A stop at the Caves du Marmandais will let you explore these charming, honest, and characterful vintages – perfect companions to local products.

And to extend the pleasure…

Between rounds of golf or after a good meal, the region also invites you to take a stroll. Starting inland, among bastides, local markets, small châteaux, restored mills and villages where time slows down, you’ll discover all the charm of Gascony: a simple yet authentic way of life, where moments stretch between a shaded walk, a delicious meal, and a swing among the pines.

Then, as you head west, the landscapes gradually open up: from the tranquil banks of the Garonne to the vast pine forests, all the way to the wild beaches of the Landes and the cliffs of the Basque Country.

On the Atlantic coast, don’t miss a trip to Arcachon, with its basin, oyster farms, and the famous Dune du Pilat. Further south, seaside resorts such as Biscarrosse or Hossegor combine surfing, gourmet markets, and leisurely walks along the shore.

A golf & gastronomy getaway in the South-West? The answer lies on the plate… and on the green !

Landes–Gascogne is an ideal destination for epicurean golfers. The courses are varied, accessible, and welcoming. The tables are rich, sincere, and generous. And the landscapes, between vineyards, forests, and rolling hills, invite you to unwind.

Whether you love long drives or fine wines, foie gras or shaded fairways, one thing is certain: you will leave both delighted and satisfied.
