Costa Brava-Girona: the gastronomie in the unisson des greens

16th June 2025 13178

Between the fairways of Peralada, Torremirona, Pals, Empordà, Camiral, Golf Costa Brava or Aro-Mas Nou, we savor as much the courses as the local products. Here, each club-house is an invitation to discover the Catalan gastronomy in its most authentic and refined.

Nestled between sea and mountains, the Costa Brava-Girona seduces with the wild beauty of its landscapes, but also by the richness of its gastronomy.

Anchored in the Catalan tradition, influenced by the Mediterranean and sublimated by local products of exceptional quality, this region of the province of Girona has become a hotspot for culinary tourism. The Costa Brava-Girona offers a wide range of flavors. And for golf enthusiasts, there is no need to get away from the fairways; in the restaurants of the many golf courses in the region, this culinary identity is expressed with great brilliance. "Whether they are golfers or not, more and more visitors come only to have lunch as they like our menu" says Rocio Aranda, director of the golf d'Aro.

A cuisine of emotions and contrasts

The Costa Brava-Girona is the birthplace of world-famous chefs, like Ferran Adrià or the Roca brothers. But beyond the starred, the region shines with a sincere cuisine, driven by emblematic recipes: suquet de peix (fish stew), arroz caldoso (rice in broth), botifarra amb mongetes (Catalan sausage and beans), anchovies from l'Escala, or even the famous shrimp of Palamós, delicate and iodized. The wines of Empordà, structured red or mineral white, accompany perfectly this gastronomy between land and sea.

Thanks to this environment in which they are lovent, the golf courses of the Costa Brava that are Peralada, Torremirona, Pals, Empordà, Camiral, Costa Brava, or even Aro-Mas Nou do not content themselves with offering exceptional courses: they also contain a "gastronomic experience" as everyone likes to say, faithful to the soul of the territory.

Each club house becomes an ambassador of local taste. At Peralada Golf, one can taste refined dishes accompanied by the wines of the adjoining vineyard.

At the Camiral Golf & Wellness - which many know as its former name PGA Catalunya -, the 1477 restaurant is based on a menu inspired by the seasons, where each ingredient tells a story.

At Empordà Golf, the chefs revisit the Catalan classics with modernity, without ever betraying their roots.

A philosophy 'zero mile' assumed

What unites these establishments, beyond the setting and comfort, is their commitment to a philosophy of "zero mile". An approach that involves sourcing from local producers, within a limited radius and respecting the seasons, to support the local economy, reduce carbon footprint and self-sufficient agriculture. " It’s not always easy, says Rocio Aranda. Especially when we want to diversify the dishes on offer. So sometimes we don’t. But we think it is worth getting excellent quality products that give our kitchen its identity.”

At Torremirona Golf Club, the vegetables come from organic market gardeners in Navata when the oxen are raised a few turns away from the hotel. "For the record, the farmer is even an old high school study buddy," amuses principal Andreu Viladevall before adding: «The proximity with our producers is reflected most in our wine list since we value small winemakers until organizing visits to their estate.»
At the Pals golf course, fish are bought daily from the auction of Palamós, twenty-four kilometers away. This ethical approach also allows to preserve the local culinary heritage, by promoting products often unknown to the general public.

Zoom on the golf courses of the Costa Brava: diversity, quality and exceptional landscapes

Golf Peralada
This 18-hole, par 71 course stretches over a quiet area in the heart of the Alt Empordà. Technical without being burdensome, it offers wide fairways lined with trees and several well-placed water obstacles. It is also certified to host international competitions. Its practice and training facilities make it an ideal place for all levels.

Golf de Torremirona
Located in Navata, this 18-hole course offers a varied layout with hilly greens, well placed bunkers and breathtaking views of the Pyrenees. It combines technicality and pleasure in playing, with impeccable maintenance. The course is reputed to be playable all year round thanks to its mild microclimate.

Golf de Pals
The oldest golf course on the Costa Brava (1966) is a par 73 recognized for its tradition and classic layout, drawn in a dense pine forest. Narrow fairways, deep bunkers and well-defended greens require precision and strategy. It has hosted many international competitions and is a must for purists.

Empordà Golf
Two 18-hole courses of different styles: the Dunes, more open, with natural dunes, punctuated by water obstacles and bunkers, and the Forest, which winds through a pine forest. An ideal combination to vary the pleasures and meet different technical challenges on the same site.

, A quinta do Lago ResortCamiral
Ranked among the best in Spain, this complex offers two courses designed by Neil Coles: the Stadium Course, difficult and spectacular, appreciated by high-level players, and the Tour Course, more accessible but equally well maintained. First-class infrastructure, fast greens, impeccable aesthetics: the experience is unforgettable.

Golf Club Costa Brava
In Santa Cristina d'Aro, this 27-hole course (18 + 9) combines tradition and nature. The 18 historic holes wind through wooded hills and offer magnificent views of the valley. The newer 9 holes are larger and suitable for beginners. A human-sized golf, very popular with regulars.

Golf d'Aro Mas Nou
This spectacular 18-hole course is located at an altitude of 300 meters and overlooks the Mediterranean. Designed in a rocky and wooded environment, it combines picturesque holes, strategic doglegs and well-defended greens. Technical, but very pleasant to play for those who like challenges... with a view.

Playing golf in Costa Brava-Girona is therefore much more than a simple parenthesis between fairways and greens. It is an immersion in a Catalan way of life where the passion for games blends with that of taste. Between tapas and tasting menus, between quality routes and exceptional vineyards, each stop on one of the routes becomes a sensory experience. A perfect balance between sporty elegance and culinary delights.
