DESCRIPTION
A three night stay at Anjou Golf sets you up in the heart of historic Anjou, a region once ruled by English king Henry 11. Enjoy a magnificent course on what was family farmland, with a metamorphose engineered by the British architect Frederic Hawtree in the early 1990s. Hawtree incorporated many of the site’s centuries-old oaks into both the 6 hole and 18 hole courses. Players will, for example, have to circumnavigate three striking specimens marching across the fairway 13. The two green fees included in this package, give you time to enjoy the peace and quiet with an extra day to visit the neighbouring Golfy courses of Baugé and Sablé. Alternatively, use the time to explore the Anglo-Angevin connection; the capital of what was once the Angevin Empire is Angers, just a half hour drive south; the royal Fonterault Abbey which houses the effigies of Henry 11 and his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine is an hour and a quarter’s drive via Saumur.
