Located South of France, Béziers Saint Thomas golf course lies in a unique site at the heart of typically Mediterranean garrigue surroundings, just 10 minutes from the beach. On this exceptional site, greenery and wild natural areas co-exist in harmony over a wide area. The 18-hole course owes its distinctive character to a variety of settings: tree-lined holes, with undulating fairways and water hazards, as well as some classic fairways.
I love this golf course. Hard and technical, with rustic bunkers (being repaired as we speak) and a mix of fast and slow greens, it's a delightful meander through the garrigue with the only sound being of local wildlife, and during hunting season of frustrated hunters blazing away at anything that moves. Hole number 10 is a signature hole, with views over the Carroux and in the distance the "Kilimanjaro of the Midi", the pic du Canigou. It's hard not to appreciate the view on a clear day as you watch your ball sink into the water reservoir below the depart. The bar and restaurant are undergoing renovation, but have lots of promise, and we all hope to see a return of the lively social scene that made the club so popular far and wide. The annual Pro-Am in April is really worth doing.
