Golf dell’Ugolino-Firenze
DESCRIPTION
The Englishman Cecil Blandford and the Irishman Peter Gannon have designed a magnificent 18-hole course that blends in perfectly with the hills of the Via Chiantigiana, covered in vineyards and olive groves where the air smells of maritime pine and broom. The course is not long but very technical and those who play it immediately realise that the natural features of the place, the woods, the olive trees, the fruit trees, the small greens well defended by bunkers and the sloping fairways make it very pleasant but also challenging. Playing at Ugolino is not just about playing golf, it is an unforgettable experience that immerses the player in a hilly landscape of rare gentleness, passion and excitement. Writer Chris Santella cited it in his book as one of the "fifty places to play golf before you die".
